Uma psicóloga ao serviço dos universitários
“Ainda antes da pandemia, perante um caso de tentativa de suicídio de um aluno da Universidade de Aveiro (UA), a preocupação levou-me a pensar que tínhamos de fazer alguma coisa”, explica o padre Leonel Abrantes em declarações à Agência ECCLESIA.
O diretor do Centro Universitário Fé e Cultura (CUFC), sabendo que a UA já dispunha de uma linha de apoio psicológico, sentiu a necessidade de “ter alguém para quem pudesse encaminhar situações mais delicadas” que lhe chegavam nas conversas que tinha com os universitários que o procuravam.
“Os jovens chegam à universidade sem estarem equipados para lidar com a adversidade, veja-se a quantidade de alunos que mudam de curso por diversas vezes, há muita pressão e uma grande dificuldade de traçar objetivos concretos”, explica o sacerdote da diocese de Aveiro.
Das “famílias desestruturadas, à violência”, “ansiedade” e “incertezas do futuro”, o sacerdote vai levando alguns casos “às mãos” de uma profissional, Juliana Melo, “muitas vezes combatendo o estigma de ir ao psicólogo”.
“Eram estudantes universitários que chegavam ali ao CUFC e fui conhecendo as problemáticas através do padre Leonel, fomos dando a conhecer este serviço e, durante estes dois anos, foram chegando mais pedidos de ajuda, maioritariamente questões de ansiedade”, refere Juliana Melo, neste serviço desde 2019.
Os “confinamentos consequentes da pandemia vieram aumentar o número de casos de ansiedade” e “acentuar” esta realidade na vida de muitos jovens, que leva a psicóloga a acompanhar mensalmente os jovens, “ou com outro ajuste consoante os casos”.
“Há um pico de ansiedade neste tempo, nas vésperas dos dias de exame, mas o nosso trabalho continuado assegura o equilíbrio do universitário e queremos que isso se vá sentindo no dia a dia”, refere a psicóloga.

“Jovens Sem Sofá” é um desafio para mais de 300 universitários
A plataforma “Jovens Sem Sofá” nasceu da Cáritas Diocesana a pensar nos jovens universitários que chegavam de outros países para ali estudar na universidade e precisavam de ajuda e integração.
“Há cerca de quatro anos entrou para a Cáritas um sacerdote e pensámos ir ao encontro dos jovens e fazer algum acompanhamento, onde promovesse sobretudo a integração”, refere o coordenador da plataforma Rui Magalhães.
O sonho nasceu numa paróquia perto do Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (IPB) e as atividades propostas aos “cerca de 300 jovens” são no âmbito da Cáritas e da paróquia.
“São sobretudo jovens estrangeiros, de sete países diferentes, sobretudo dos PALOP’s, que caminham juntos, chegamos a ter 300 jovens na plataforma, reunimos agora online nesta fase mas fazemos que as dinâmicas que sejam eles que propõem”, reforça o responsável.
O nome do grupo veio da inspiração do Papa Francisco quando diz que “os jovens não podem ser acomodados, nem ficar no sofá” e congrega universitários, jovens trabalhadores e até jovens que frequentam ensino secundário e que através de amigos encontram este grupo.
Rui Magalhães recorda momentos de voluntariado, peregrinações e até acampamentos que os “Jovens Sem Sofá” já concretizaram e que vão reforçando a caminhada da fé.
“Muitos daqueles jovens sentiam-se perdidos, não tinham possibilidades, e a pertença ao grupo faz a diferença, além da comunidade ir conhecendo uma nova realidade que é a dos estudantes estrangeiros na própria cidade”, acrescenta.
O coordenador partilha ainda que no grupo tem outras sensibilidades e “até jovens de outras religiões, como muçulmanos”, que participam com muito respeito nas atividades e até “estão em algumas celebrações”.

A apatia dos jovens e a força do voluntariado
No Casarão, espaço da Pastoral Universitária da arquidiocese de Évora e dinamizado pelos jesuítas, sente-se a “apatia” dos jovens universitários que, em menor número ali vai passando, estudando e encontrando-se, sempre com “receios trazidos pelo tempo de pandemia”.
“Eu noto alguma apatia por parte dos jovens, não estão tão abertos a iniciativas, e queria muito ter essa esperança que as coisas mudem, que as pessoas regressem ao essencial, mas tenho muitas dúvidas”, afirma o padre Fernando Ribeiro, responsável do Casarão, à Agência ECCLESIA.
“A falta de normalidade e a envolvência da incerteza” são razões que, segundo o sacerdote jesuíta, levam à “apatia num tempo académico que agora é curtíssimo” com muitas “lacunas de convívio social e até alguma falta de energia”.
“Os jovens que entraram no mundo universitário neste tempo de pandemia viveram um tempo estranho, as incertezas e os confinamentos, e entraram num mundo universitário com muita falta de proximidade, esta apatia pode ser combatida com experiências de fé”, revela.
Natural do Porto, Francisca Noronha é estudante de Medicina Veterinária, em Évora, e o Casarão tornou-se uma “segunda casa”, um ponto importante para o encontro dos estudantes e um “ótimo sítio de estudo”.
“A maior dificuldade é a socialização, na universidade também temos de viver isso e no nosso curso ajuda muito, há muitas limitações em tempo de aulas, onde não encontramos ninguém, em tempo de exames é só estudar”, desabafa a jovem.
A missa de quarta-feira tornou-se um “momento alto” da semana para a jovem estudante que sente que a “ajuda na concentração” para o estudo, “uma terapia e um momento de relaxamento”.
Francisca Noronha é a coordenadora de um projeto de voluntariado de acompanhamento a idosos, que “já existia antes da pandemia” e serve para “colocar os jovens em contacto com idosos que vivem sozinhos no centro da cidade”.
“Sempre gostei de lidar com idosos e foi uma mudança na minha vida, era-nos atribuído, a pares, um idoso, visitávamos uma vez por semana, sempre marcado, fazíamos companhia, e o que fosse preciso… ganhei uns avós em Évora, é assim que os tratamos, um bocadinho família e tapa o buraco da nossa solidão”, conta.
A jovem estudante recorda que “é uma alegria” os idosos receberem os jovens, uma iniciativa que, com a pandemia, foi “difícil de manter”, resumia-se a “visitas à janela ou à porta”.
“Atualmente continuamos a fazer visitas, com todos os cuidados, mas há muitos receios e não conseguimos manter o ritmo, temos muita preocupação com os nossos idosos, a nós, jovens, dá-nos um grande sentido de compromisso e estamos em contacto com novas realidades”, aponta.

“Uma pesca à linha” dos jovens universitários
Pela diocese do Funchal, o Departamento da Pastoral do Ensino Superior chega “pela mão, pelo sorriso ou pela conversa” da Irmã Teresa Pinho, Missionária da Verbum Dei, que integra este serviço há cinco anos.
“Encontrei uma realidade diferente do que conhecia, depois de nove anos em missão em Lisboa, trata-se de um campo por desbravar, é um terreno fértil mas onde é preciso estar com tempo e coração”, explica a religiosa à Agência ECCLESIA.
Apesar de “ainda não saber bem o que é a realidade da pastoral universitária” a irmã Teresa já foi percebendo que há ciclos de jovens a entrar e sair,” ora que estão cá pouco tempo ou que procuram trabalho noutros sítios”.
Nos dois anos de pandemia a irmã Teresa, que integra uma equipa, define como “difícil” o trabalho com os jovens universitários bem como a forma de “cativar os jovens” para alguma iniciativa, a “pertença à pastoral universitária deixou de ser uma prioridade”.
“A aposta passa por uma “pesca à linha” e eu estou uma vez por semana na universidade para conseguir ter tempo para os jovens mas, por exemplo, os jovens dos primeiros anos, que não tiveram momentos de integração devido à pandemia, não nos conhecem”, recorda
A pandemia trouxe também limitações nas dinâmicas, seja da eucaristia do oratório na universidade, “que teve de deixar de acontecer por ser espaço muito pequeno” ou o voluntariado num dos hospitais da Madeira, “que está suspenso”, e deixou de ser uma das portas de entrada para as ações desta pastoral.
“Para contornar a situação passámos a ter missa, ao domingo à noite, na igreja do Colégio, no Funchal, mas com participação escassa, quer dos jovens quer da comunidade académica”, lamenta a missionária.
Segundo a entrevistada, “parte dos jovens tem ansiedades sobre o futuro, seja no emprego, nas perspetivas que a ilha pode oferecer ou até nas incertezas de constituição de família”, são temas que os jovens partilham nas conversas.

A indiferença perante o religioso
O padre Luis Pardal é o capelão da Universidade da Beira Interior (UBI), na Covilhã, diocese da Guarda e disse à Agência ECCLESIA que, cada vez mais, sente uma “indiferença dos jovens em relação ao fenómeno religioso”.
“O mundo universitário é muito inconstante, o estudo ou outro evento mais prazeroso é sempre colocado à frente de qualquer oração ou atividade pastoral e isso torna-se frustrante e depois há muita dispersão”, revela o sacerdote.
A lecionar Português no ensino secundário, o padre Luis Pardal tem também a noção que “não há grande relação com a instituição Igreja”, uma “preocupação que se torna maior” quando Portugal se prepara para receber a Jornada Mundial da Juventude Lisboa 2023.
“É uma realidade que terá muitas consequências para eles e para nós, como Igreja, todos vamos sentir esta marca expressiva da pandemia e isso assusta porque temos de questionar que Igreja é que vamos ter no futuro e que homens e valores teremos… E não vejo a Igreja a refletir sobre as marcas que ficam a todos os níveis”, aponta.
Com a pandemia o sacerdote conta que mantiveram a eucaristia dominical e as orações de quarta-feira, “momentos adaptados muitas vezes ao zoom” que foi criando algum reforço de laços” mas onde a “participação nunca foi muito expressiva”.
“Um sinal de esperança que foi a criação, pela primeira vez na UBI, de um grupo de missão país, no ano passado íamos sair mas com a pandemia realizámos online, eram cerca de 42 jovens, foi assim um ano zero, este ano esperamos conseguir de forma presencial, ir a 13 de fevereiro para uma aldeia na diocese de Coimbra”, adianta.
O padre Luis Pardal refere que a realidade da UBI, “por ser zona de acolhimento de muitos estudantes dos PALOP’S”, se torna um mosaico de nacionalidades e culturas.
“Estes jovens que estão longe das famílias, acabam por fazer a sua vida na Covilhã e encontram na atividade pastoral um refúgio, mas também um apoio socio caritativo”, explica.
O sacerdote também sentiu alguma procura de conversa, em tempo de pandemia, “de assuntos relacionados com a ansiedade”.

O site «Eu Sou» e a reabertura de um Centro Académico
“Eu sou” nasceu de um sonho de duas irmãs gémeas, estudantes universitárias, Beatriz e Catarina Ferrão que, depois de lerem o “Christus Vivit” (Cristo Vive) do Papa Francisco sentiram que “tinham de fazer alguma coisa”
“Isto foi no ano passado e começámos a desenvolver este projeto católico que pretendíamos que fosse um espaço para dar a conhecer iniciativas católicas, locais e informações para outros jovens”, explica Catarina à Agência ECCLESIA.
Da paróquia de Telheiras, no patriarcado de Lisboa, Beatriz e Catarina, de 21 anos, fizeram o caminho na catequese e grupos de jovens e, ao entrar na Universidade, “foi natural” entrar na Missão País e tudo o que envolve.
Beatriz tirou Finanças, Catarina o curso de Gestão de informação e, quando em 2020 ficaram em confinamento “surgiu a ideia” de fazer alguma coisa para os jovens e para a sociedade.
“Há muita gente que não sabe das coisas, às vezes é difícil saber onde estão as informações, e há muitos jovens que perdem oportunidade porque não chega esta transmissão”, explica Beatriz..
As jovens perceberam que “há uma grande lacuna” quando os jovens fazem o crisma e entram na universidade e “não sabem onde se integrar para viver a fé”.
O Site “Eu Sou” “nasceu de raíz”, esteve em desenvolvimento durante o ano de 2020, “depois de muita pesquisa” e neste mês de janeiro foi colocado online, com espaços de informação da fé católica, “destinado ao público jovem”, e que contou com acompanhamento do pároco das jovens.
“Há amigos nossos que nos vão dando feedback, alguns a dizer que não conhecem algumas das informações, e que consideram importantes”, revelam.
As duas irmãs sentem-se “contentes” com o site, acreditam que este pode ser um “caminho de chegar a outros jovens” dando a conhecer projetos da Igreja Católica e desejam tornar o sítio online “mais abrangente”, com informações ao nível nacional.
“Acreditamos que este site também vai poder ajudar quem virá a Portugal para a JMJ 2023, seja com informações ou residências, e ainda vamos tentar também colocar o site também em inglês”, adiantam as jovens.
Ainda na cidade de Lisboa, na paróquia de Arroios, reabriu no início deste mês de janeiro o Centro Universitário Edith Stein que pretende ser um “centro de estudo e um lugar para descobrir a missão de vida”.
“O Centro tem a coordenação de uma equipa de um sacerdote, duas irmãs, dois casais e uma leiga, e pretendemos fazer caminho com os jovens que vão aparecendo aqui para estudar e propôr pistas para descobrir o sentido da vida de cada um”, explica à Agência ECCLESIA Aymeric de Dreuzy, um dos membros da equipa de coordenação.
Jasmine e Aymeric de Dreuzy são um casal francês, em Portugal há quatro meses, em missão na paróquia de Arroios e Anjos.
“Pretendemos que, além do estudo, este Centro sirva para os jovens interrogarem o seu futuro e perceberem as razões da sua vida”, explica.
O Centro Universitário Edith Stein está aberto de segunda a sexta-feira, das 9h30 às 22h e ao sábado das 09h30 às 18h00.

Em época de exames acontece a “Oração dos aflitos”
José Veiga é diretor adjunto do Secretariado de Pastoral Universitária (PU) da diocese do Porto desde 2020, uma área da pastoral que “levou um grande rombo” em tempo de pandemia.
“A pastoral universitária está a viver uma grande ressaca da pandemia, a diocese do Porto é uma diocese muito grande e com muitas paróquias e nós tentamos chegar aos jovens que se afastam dessas realidades, e dar oportunidade de viver a fé na semana que passam fora, na universidade”, explica o jovem à Agência ECCLESIA.
“Decresceu o número de jovens na participação na missas semanais” mas as orações mensais conseguiram manter-se, seja “online e presencial”, bem como as “conversas improváveis” que pretendem “trazer temas diferentes” à reflexão.
“Sinto que na PU, de quatro em quatro anos, há renovação de pessoas, e vão sendo diferentes, agora nota-se que há aqui uma geração que até quer fazer coisas mas teve poucas experiências para poder crescer”, refere o responsável.
Em tempo de exames há uma tradição na Pastoral Universitária que, “na última época de exames”, acontece a “Oração dos Aflitos”.
“É uma iniciativa que está orientada para gerir a ansiedade, o nervosismo e a pressão, trata-se de uma pequena oração, cerca 40 minutos de tranquilidade, este ano acontece na segunda semana de fevereiro, a época de recurso, mas ainda nem sabemos se pode ser presencial”, partilha.
Do acompanhamento que faz da realidade universitária, José Veiga percebe que os “jovens não se integram na academia”, “vão da universidade para casa e fecham-se”, parece que sentem algum “desconforto” e perdem depois “oportunidades únicas, de experiências e vivências desta faixa etária”.
“Falta chegar a estes jovens, aprender a comunicar com eles e ir ao encontro deles, a Igreja tem dificuldade em se fazer ouvir no mundo juvenil, acima de tudo é necessária criatividade para conseguir que os jovens, por exemplo, se sintam bem nos espaços de oração ou momentos proporcionados para a juventude”, revela.
