Foi a partir de um momento de fragilidade que Nuno Fonseca, informático e músico, chegou à Faculdade de Teologia, da Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
“O meu pai faleceu, eu tinha 24 anos. Esse acontecimento foi um chamamento. A vocação sacerdotal não estava lá, estava sim um profundo questionamento, adensado por este evento dramático. Porquê? Porque é que as coisas são como são?”, recorda à Agência ECCLESIA.
A procura intelectual de uma resposta interrompeu-lhe a profissão e levou-o a cinco anos de estudo teológico onde procurou a resposta para «Quem é Deus, afinal, para mim?»
“É uma questão simples de colocar, mas muito difícil de responder”, recorda.
Nas componentes históricas e filosóficas do curso foi procurando as respostas “intelectuais” para a sua procura; na vertente cultural encontrou a profundidade para uma formação que o acompanhou ao longo da sua vida, “abrindo horizontes imensos”.
Com formação em canto na Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional, desde 2009 que integra o coro Gulbenkian, Nuno Fonseca encontrou na Teologia a justificação para a arte que sempre valorizou.
“Às vezes só a linguagem musical chega à justificação, porque as palavras não chegam lá; a música consegue transportar para o que a palavra não consegue exprimir”, indica, sublinhando que música e Teologia são mundos que se tocam e inspiram.
“O meu percurso em Teologia acabou por me fazer refinar a sensibilidade para a estética, no seu sentido amplo, para a arte em geral. O léxico que se ganha acaba por caracterizar muito do que é a realidade artística, o estudo dá-lhe significado”, finaliza.

Há encontros que mudam vidas e no caso de Francisco Piedade Vaz, comandante da Marinha de guerra, atualmente reformado, foram duas pessoas ligadas à Faculdade de Teologia, da UCP, que o foram acicatando para nunca se contentar com o atual conhecimento.
“Um militar é alguém que gere instrumentos de violência; pela responsabilidade que assume em funções tem de ter uma formação ética, pessoal e humana muito boa”, afirma à Agência ECCLESIA quando questionado sobre os cruzamentos entre a Marinha e a Teologia.
Militar reformado destaca que a liderança é das componentes mais fortes na sua formação na Academia.
“Um oficial tem de saber liderar as pessoas no seu comando, não há resultados objetivos se o comandante não souber chegar aos seus homens”, traduz, afirmando que a utilização de “meios violentos” tem como objetivo assegurar os interesses e o bem comum do país.
“Um militar não é um guerreiro mas que tem de ter presente o bem-comum”, assinala.
A formação teológica, reconhece, deu-lhe “profundidade” à prática cristã com que cresceu.
“Não sabemos tudo, somos apenas um grão de areia no mundo do conhecimento. Ao cruzar esta área ganho uma cosmovisão diferente. Procuro ser coerente no que estudo e pôr em prática no dia-a-dia”, afirma.
O mestrado em Teologia levou-o a estudar as mensagens de São João Paulo II para o dia mundial da paz; atualmente integra o Centro de Estudos de Filosofia da UCP.

Foi para dar respostas aos jovens que acompanhava na sua paróquia que Maria Filomena Andrade decidiu estudar Teologia. Naqueles anos 80 eram duas mulheres nos bancos da Faculdade de Teologia mas nem por isso se sentiu à margem ou percebeu “ilhas” que o aprofundamento do conhecimento de Deus proporcionava.
Depois de cursar História, já a lecionar no ensino secundário e paralelemente ao trabalho paroquial com jovens, Filomena foi estudar Teologia.
“Achei por bem fazer um investimento. Era importante dar mais à juventude com que lidava, torná-los conscientes da sua fé e atuantes”, explica à Agência ECCLESIA.
Acabou por descobrir no estudo teológico um “eco profundo”, não só de conhecimento mas também de metodologia de trabalho, e um cruzamento com a sua área de eleição – a História medieval.
“Este cruzamento entre a História e a Teologia são para o mundo contemporâneo que vive uma aparente secularização – digo aparente porque não é tão grande e clara como isso, porque é um mundo que busca um transcendente, mesmo afirmando que não – dá uma profundidade à história e dá à religião uma inserção histórica e cultural fundamental”, sublinha a professora da Universidade Aberta.
Tolerância e o diálogo são “grandes instrumentos da Teologia”, assinala, frisando que o conhecimento de Deus permite “ir às fronteiras”, chegando a públicos “que dificilmente chegaria” e “apreciar e valorizar outras culturas”.
“A Teologia tem canais que permitem um diálogo mais aberto e nos dão um alargamento, não só temporal, mas de conhecimento tão vasto que nos permite reconhecer, apreciar e valorizar outras culturas. No diálogo com o divino, o homem torna-se homem”, sublinha.

Desde criança sempre ligado à Igreja e à prática cristã, Paulo Paiva deixava-se questionar sobre a sua vocação, e na busca pela verdade e aprofundamento da fé, procurava responder a dúvidas e inquietações que o perseguiam. .
“A qualquer amigo ou conhecido que encontrava perguntava sempre se a pessoa acreditava em Deus. Era quase a forma como eu começava uma conversa”, recorda à Agência ECCLESIA.
Eram conversas nos bancos da escola, ou entre amigos e conhecidos numa noite no bairro Alto, em Lisboa, que a conversa inevitavelmente ia parar a Deus.
“Ficava sempre com vontade de continuar a falar sobre isso, sentia que me faltava um argumento”, explica, prosseguindo a sua vida até aos bancos da Teologia.
Ali encontrou um curso “aberto a leigos, ao contrário do que inicialmente pensava”, uma formação “abrangente” mas “sem saídas profissionais”.
“Vais para professor de Educação Moral ou Religiosa Católica ou vais para o desemprego, se não fores sacerdote”, ouviu dizer.
Paulo Paiva lamenta que a cultura não reconheça a formação teológica pois, naqueles cinco anos, adquiriu ferramentas humanas, culturais e de diálogo com o mundo.
“Compreensão de si mesmo, consciência de si e conhecimento do ser humano”, tudo isto aprofundou em Teologia, a partir de uma “perspetiva judaico-cristã” mas muito valorativa.
No seu percurso, Paulo procurou “encontrar argumentos para consolidar a fé e poder dá-los aos outros”.
Hoje é no Instituto de Formação Cristã, no patriarcado de Lisboa, que procura contagiar outros para a necessidade de estudar e aprofundar a fé.
“Os desafios atuais à fé são tão avançados que não basta dizer «fico por aqui». O estudo é essencial”, afirma.
Se a Teologia “tem um discurso interno, para a Igreja”, tem de estar em constante diálogo com outras áreas.
“Há uma procura do transcendente. Há uns tempos falava-se em inteligência emocional, mas agora surge a inteligência espiritual, o que mostra a procura das pessoas”, finaliza.

Ser missionário, ir de terra em terra na itinerância de um anúncio era para o jovem Licínio Lima o sonho de uma vida, que foi crescendo nas experiências paroquiais e junto dos Missionários Redentoristas.
Entre contratempos da vida, vê-se jovem no tempo da revolução dos cravos e no meio da incerteza, no pós 25 de abril, numa altura em que “os ideais eram atrativos”, decide estudar Teologia.
“Na Teologia achamos que vamos estudar Deus, mas lá eu encontrei a pessoa humana. Quem estuda Teologia torna-se um especialista do ser humano”, assinala à Agência ECCLESIA.
Jornalista há 26 anos, recorda que era destacado para os bairros difíceis onde contactava com as pessoas do crime: “Nunca tive medo de entrar e conseguia dialogar com as pessoas”.
Em 2013 é nomeado sub-diretor da Direção-geral da Reinserção e Serviços Prisionais e aqui, sublinha, “mensagem cristã é muito forte”.
“O mundo das prisões arrebatou-me. Aqui percebi o sentido mais profundo da frase «o homem é maior do que o seu erro»”.
Na formação teológica procura-se estudar “o percurso de um povo em busca do seu sentido, na Teologia é o povo de Israel, a caminho de Jerusalém; mas no dia-a-dia é a vida quotidiana de cada pessoa”.
“Entre quem estuda Teologia e procura perceber o homem na sua relação com Deus não há conflitos, pois dialogam na essência. Eles libertam-se da letra e entram no espirito”, valoriza o jornalista freelancer, sublinhando o quanto procura “evitar muros e fronteiras entre as pessoas”.
“O que fomento é o encontro”, sublinha.
“Quanto mais percebermos do humano mais seremos capazes de gerir empresas e instituições. E quem passa por Teologia não tem outra hipótese”, finaliza.
