Ajuda de Mãe

Fomos visitar alguns presépios que registam uma intensa atividade e estão abertos todo o ano. Um deles fica em Lisboa no nº 282 da Rua do Arco do Carvalhão. Abriu portas em 1991, para apoiar a mulher grávida, e para que o nascimento de um bébé seja um fator de alegria e não de medo.

“As mães chegam-nos grávidas ainda, algumas já com bébé… mas na gravidez temos mais tempo para lhes dar apoio e para as capacitar” diz Fátima Silva, psicóloga da Ajuda de Mãe.

Nesta instituição, as mães recebem um acompanhamento total à sua condição. Há ateliers de preparação para o parto, cuidados de saúde e da alimentação do recém-nascido.

“Hoje há muita informação e pouca formação” reconhece Margarida Telhado, que coordena o serviço “Vamos dar de mamar”. É ela que dá formação às jovens mães e que reconhece as dificuldades com que por vezes, estas mulheres se deparam nos serviços públicos de saúde.

“Basta que uma delas não esteja legalizada ou que o companheiro não tenha reconhecido ainda o filho para que a mãe grávida ou o recém nascido tenham dificuldades no seu acompanhamento de saúde”

Sénia Rosana é uma jovem mãe que recorre a esta casa. Durante o dia, prossegue os seus estudos através de uma plataforma informática do Ministério da Educação: Eu já estava na escola, mas agora com o meu filho pequeno não tinha possibilidade de ir, mas aqui beneficiamos do ensino à distância enquanto os nossos filhos ficam na Creche da Ajuda de Mãe”.

A par dos estudos, a instituição promove cursos profissionais e criou algumas empresas com a finalidade de possibilitarem às jovens mães a inserção no mercado de trabalho e na obtenção do rendimento que possibilite no futuro, uma vida autónoma.

Comissão Nacional para a Promoção dos Direitos e Proteção de Crianças e Jovens

Entre as várias competências deste organismo do Estado está a de ser um observatório sobre a criança e de tudo o que pode constituir ameaça e colocar em risco os seus direitos…

Rosário Farmhouse que preside a este organismo, põe em evidência o reconhecimento internacional que merece o nosso sistema de proteção de crianças e jovens. “É um sistema inovador, muito baseado na comunidade local que parte do princípio em que cada um de nós conta para proteger esta criança”

Mas a responsável por esta Comissão chama a atenção para novas ameaças que chegam pela tecnologia: “O perigo do cyberbullying, o perigo da exposição, da violação do direito à imagem, à privacidade… é um mundo a que temos que estar atentos como família e como sociedade”.

Rosário Farmhouse econhece que hoje tudo acontece muito depressa: “Os perigos que antes associávamos ao estar na rua e expostos a pessoas que não se conhecem, podem acontecer hoje no quarto através de um computador”.

Hoje há uma consciência do perigo e da necessidade da denúncia de tudo o que pode pôr as crianças em risco, mas perdura também a necessidade de mais famílias serem generosas para “dar lugar” para acolher tantas crianças que estão sós no mundo. Rosário Farmhouse sublinha o testemunho de algumas crianças que, já crescidas, reconhecem os que foram referências na sua vida e que não foram os pais.

“Falam de pessoas que tiveram a coragem de acolher crianças diversas vezes devolvidas às instituições, ou de quem decidiu alargar a família para acolher um novo membro…   todos nós temos estas oportunidades que são transformadoras e que não devemos perder”.

Ajuda de Berço

Há 22 anos nasceu para acolher quem vinha ao mundo sem o enquadramento de uma família que desse segurança e carinho. Por isso se chamou Ajuda de Berço, porém os tempos e as necessidades levaram até ela crianças cada vez mais velhas  que obrigam agora o berço a ser mais jardim de infância e escola como reconhece Sandra Anastácio que preside a esta casa.

“É um desafio enorme ter aqui crianças que estão numa pré-adolescência e que precisam agora de ser postas num mundo capacitadas de um aporte emocional muito forte para se aguentarem na idade adulta”.

Para muitas das crianças da Ajuda de Berço a melhor esperança de futuro passaria por uma família de acolhimento ou adoção que lhes garantisse a estabilidade emocional e o carinho que um dia lhes faltou.

Sandra Anastácio recorda que não basta a generosidade: “É preciso aceitar aquele que pede lugar… famílias que estão disponíveis para acolher crianças desfavorecidas, esquecem-se de aceitar a criança tal como ela é”.

O Bernardo

Aceitar a criança tal como ela é foi um desafio assumido pela família de Carmo e Rui Diniz. Uma família com quatro filhos e todos os requisitos necessários para as tradicionais categorias da felicidade. Ainda assim quiseram mais um filho e decidiram adotar. Foi-lhes apresentado o que os serviços apelidaram de “um caso”. O “caso” era o Bernardo, uma criança com 99% de incapacidade. Deficiente profundo, tem microcefalia e viveu até aos 3 anos numa instituição.

“Quando decidimos adotar não pensámos na deficiência. Foi durante o processo que surgiu esta possibilidade e tivemos que conhecer o que implica a deficiência no meio familiar pois não tínhamos experiência nessa matéria”, refere Carmo Diniz, que admite a dificuldade que tiveram em dar uma resposta à Segurança Social.

Começaram um caminho que significou um salto, um salto de fé. Rui Diniz questionou o médico pediatra acerca da vantagem para o Bernardo em ser adotado por esta família…  não seriam mais úteis a uma criança que pudesse tirar mais partido do que tinham para dar?

“Eu estava à espera de uma resposta técnica… e ele respondeu, é claro que vocês podem fazer a diferença, não subestime o poder do amor…   esta foi a resposta que me permitiu dar o salto, a Carmo já o tinha dado”

Há sete anos que o Bernardo é um membro desta família. Acolhido por todos e acarinhado em especial por cada um dos quatro filhos que não gostam que se fale do irmão como alguém diferente que chegou depois.

Clara lembra-se dos irmãos nascerem e o Bernardo é apenas mais um. Não há diferenças “nem a sua deficiência é um problema em que se esteja sempre a pensar”.

Carmo diz que o Bernardo é uma ajuda para relativizar problemas e situações desagradáveis e a Vera deseja ser um dia terapeuta para poder apoiar o irmão ainda mais.

Nesta casa os dias têm as mesmas horas, mas há sempre espaço e tempo para todos… Rui Diniz diz que cada filho tem o dom de expandir o tempo e reconhece que são um privilegiados em ter uns filhos assim.

Já no terceiro milénio da era cristã, é assim que “há lugar para a vida”. Apesar de tantas situações que sugerem “não haver lugar para eles”, há também os que apostam em tornar-se presépio e ser sinal de vida para o mundo.
