A celebra\u00e7\u00e3o do Natal permanece fiel \u00e0 tradi\u00e7\u00e3o, com a \u201cMissa do galo\u201d a acontecer pela meia-noite do dia 24 de Dezembro e a b\u00ean\u00e7\u00e3o \u201cUrbi et Orbi\u201d pelo meio-dia de 25, s\u00e1bado. No \u00faltimo dia do ano Jo\u00e3o Paulo II presidir\u00e1 \u00e0 recita\u00e7\u00e3o de V\u00e9speras e \u201cTe Deum\u201d (18h00), em ac\u00e7\u00e3o de gra\u00e7as. A 1 de Janeiro de 2005 tem lugar a Missa da festa lit\u00fargica de Maria, M\u00e3e de Deus, na Bas\u00edlica de S\u00e3o Pedro.
