O santu\u00e1rio foi constru\u00eddo na Via de Boccea, no cruzamento com a Via Santa Gemma, em Casalotti. As celebra\u00e7\u00f5es t\u00eam in\u00edcio no dia 8 de Setembro, quando o Vig\u00e1rio do Papa Jo\u00e3o Paulo II para a diocese de Roma, cardeal Camilo Ruini, benzer o santu\u00e1rio consagrado \u00e0 M\u00e3e da Igreja (Matri Ecclesiae).
