Bento XVI recebeu no Vaticano o vice-presidente do Irão para os Assuntos Parlamentares, Seyed Mohammad-Reza Mir-Tajeddini, depois de os filhos da iraniana Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani terem confirmado o envio de um pedido formal de ajuda ao Papa.<\/p>\n
“Foi um encontro muito breve, que teve por objectivo a entrega de uma mensagem”, afirmou à ANSA o porta-voz da Santa Sé, padre Federico Lombardi.<\/p>\n
Os filhos de Sakineh – condenada ao apedrejamento por adultério e cujo caso mobilizou governos e entidades de direitos humanos de todo o mundo – anunciaram à ANSA terem solicitado oficialmente a mediação de Bento XVI no caso da sua mãe.<\/p>\n
De acordo com o jornal do Vaticano, «L’Osservatore Romano», o colóquio ocorreu logo após a tradicional audiência pública das Quartas-feiras.<\/p>\n
