Gabriele Caccia como novo n\u00fancio apost\u00f3lico nos Estados Unidos da Am\u00e9rica, sucedendo ao cardeal franc\u00eas Christophe Pierre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Sinto-me] honrado e profundamente grato pela decis\u00e3o do Santo Padre\u201d, afirmou o diplomata, em declara\u00e7\u00f5es ao portal de not\u00edcias do Vaticano, assinalando a particularidade de ser enviado para a Igreja e o pa\u00eds onde o atual pont\u00edfice nasceu e cresceu.<\/p>\n<p>O novo representante da Santa S\u00e9 em Washington exercia as fun\u00e7\u00f5es de observador permanente junto da ONU, em Nova Iorque, assumindo o novo cargo no ano em que os EUA assinalam o seu 250.\u00ba anivers\u00e1rio.<\/p>\n<p>O arcebispo acolhe \u201cesta miss\u00e3o com alegria e ansiedade\u201d, sublinhando o compromisso de colocar o seu trabalho diplom\u00e1tico \u201cao servi\u00e7o da comunh\u00e3o e da paz\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A altera\u00e7\u00e3o na representa\u00e7\u00e3o norte-americana surge ap\u00f3s o Papa ter aceitado a ren\u00fancia de D. Christophe Pierre, que atingiu o limite de idade para o exerc\u00edcio de fun\u00e7\u00f5es ao completar 80 anos no final de janeiro.<\/p>\n<p>Nascido em Mil\u00e3o em 1958, D.
