Padre Antoine Wenger, \u00fanico jornalista que foi testemunha ocular do II Conc\u00edlio do\u00a0 Vaticano II, morreu na passada Sexta-feira, aos 89 anos. O an\u00fancio foi feito esta Segunda-feira\u00a0pela Sala de Imprensa da Santa S\u00e9. <\/p>\n
O Pe. Wenger nasceu\u00a0em 1919 numa fam\u00edlia de oper\u00e1rios na Als\u00e1cia, em Fran\u00e7a e estudou num instituto religioso. Foi ordenado\u00a0sacerdote em 1943,\u00a0dedicando-se \u00e0 pesquisa hist\u00f3rica e teologia. <\/p>\n
Em 1957, tornou-se editor-chefe do jornal cat\u00f3lico franc\u00eas\u00a0\u00abLa Croix\u00bb e gra\u00e7as a este cargo, foi o \u00fanico jornalista admitido por Paulo VI nas sess\u00f5es do Conc\u00edlio Vaticano II. <\/p>\n
As suas\u00a0cr\u00f3nicas daqueles meses s\u00e3o ainda hoje uma refer\u00eancia para os estudiosos. Depois daquela experi\u00eancia, foi testemunha directa de outros momentos importantes para a hist\u00f3ria da Igreja cat\u00f3lica, desde as miss\u00f5es na China \u00e0s rela\u00e7\u00f5es entre o Vaticano e a Igreja ortodoxa russa.<\/p>\n
